Raspberry Margarita Serving Tips

Consider salting the rim of the margarita glass before serving to add an extra dimension of flavor that complements the sweet and tart flavor of the drink.

For a more intense raspberry flavor and a deeper red color, consider adding raspberry puree along with the fresh raspberries.

Use fresh or frozen raspberries

The best raspberries for a Raspberry Margarita, in our opinion? Fresh berries! We love the delicate sweet taste you get from fresh berries. That said, if you only have frozen, you can use those too! Here's what you need to know:

Fresh raspberries: These make a nice sweet drink! The texture will be creamy but not frozen. Frozen Raspberries: These work too: follow the recipe as described. This choice can be cheaper if you make a whole jug (see below). Keep blending until the mixture is runny: it's not meant to be a frozen Raspberry Margarita with a slush-ice consistency (unless you want it to, of course).

Best tequila and triple sec for a Raspberry Margarita

Of course, you can use whatever you have on hand for tequila and triple sec: especially for a Raspberry Margarita! The raspberry flavor helps balance all types of these two liqueurs. But if you're interested in the best match for the berries, here's our take on types of tequila:

Best tequila: Choose a tequila blanco here! The more straightforward flavor balances the berries, unlike a tequila reposado, which is aged and oaky. Bonus points for a mid-priced quality tequila like Patron.

Best triple sec: Either Triple Sec or Cointreau will work (because Cointreau is a type of triple sec, if that makes sense!). Here we prefer the Triple Sec for its sharp, clear orange flavor: but honestly, both are great.
