White Negroni

White Negroni is an exciting variant of the classic Negroni cocktail, which offers a lighter and more aromatic taste. In contrast to the traditional Negroni, where Campari as the main ingredient, White Negroni replaces it with Suze which is a bitter liqueur, giving it a unique and refreshing feel. It is also preferred to use a white vermouth and here we recommend one Little blanc when the original cocktail was invented with the vermouth.

6 tips for creating the perfect White Negroni

  1. Always use fresh ice: Use fresh, high-quality ice when making any type of Negroni. This helps keep the cocktail cool without diluting it too much.
  2. Garnish with care: Garnish your Negroni with a citrus flavor, such as an orange, lemon or grapefruit wedge.
  3. Taste the drink: Always taste your drink before serving it. Adjust the flavor to achieve the ideal balance of bitterness, sweetness and complexity. Always do this after diluting the drink.
  4. Serving temperature: Traditionally, White Negroni can be served with ice in an old-fashioned glass or neatly in a cocktail dome. Choose the service style that best suits your preferences. However, be careful if you serve it without ice, it must be watered down to perfection and the drink must not stand for too long without being drunk as it does not have the ice to keep it cold.
  5. In the classic White Negroni, the normal ratio is 1:1:1 of gin, white vermouth and suze. You can adjust the proportions to your liking, but make sure to maintain a balance between the different flavors.

Who invented the White Negroni

White Negroni is a modern variation of the classic Negroni cocktail, and exactly who invented it is not unequivocally known. As the cocktail became popular, bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts began experimenting with different ingredients and creating their own variations.

One of the earliest documented mentions of a white Negroni is found in a 2007 book by British bartender and author Gary Regan. He credited Wayne Collins, a British bartender, with inventing the White Negroni. Collins replaced Campari with Suze and sweet vermouth with white vermouth to create a lighter and more delicate version of the classic cocktail.

Since then, the White Negroni has become popular with bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts around the world, and many different variations and recipes have emerged. It is an example of how classic cocktails can inspire creativity and new taste experiences.
